Alejandro Vasquez, a Los Angeles based guitarist/ composer.
I started playing guitar the way a lot of people do, chasing the sound of rock musicians who clearly knew something the others didn't. Randy Rhoads, Jon Lord, James Hetfield. Players who had technique, but more importantly, had weight to their playing. That curiosity about why certain music hits harder eventually pulled me toward theory, then composition, then classical guitar. Not as a departure from where I started, but as a deeper answer to the same question.
I hold a Bachelor's degree in Music Composition, and my work as a composer tends to sit at a few intersections at once: the impressionist harmonic world of Debussy, the cinematic language of Morricone, and the Latin musical traditions I grew up with. Classical guitar is the instrument I keep coming back to, but the rock foundation is still in there. I write for film and screen, take on custom commissions, and teach private lessons. The music is here if you want to hear it.
